You know what happens when Mommy doesn't do laundry quickly enough and Baby runs out of bibs at dinnertime? This happens.

Stupid Baby Tricks |
Hudson's first time with finger foods:
Such concentration |
I was cracking up at him doing this to his toes while concentrating on picking up the yogurt melts. |
Happy to have finally picked it up! Now, the yogurt melt never actually made it to his mouth. He simply enjoyed holding it until it completely dissolved. Sigh. |
Hudson's started talking up a storm. "Dada," "bababa," and "gagaga" seem to be his words of choice. I have a video of him talking which I can tell you is by far the sweetest thing to tickle your ears, but blogger won't let me upload it. Oh well...for those of you whom we see in real life, hopefully he'll engage you in conversation soon.

34
Last week was my birthday. The big 3-4. Really, it wasn't that big and I don't necessarily feel any older. But it was an enjoyable first birthday with my sweet baby boy.
First, we enjoyed a little dinner at Red Lobster. We hardly eat out anymore so this was a special treat. Plus, they have a birthday club so sign up for free food on your special day!
All in all, it was a wonderful day. James got my late mother's watch fixed for me, which was super thoughtful. Plus I got sweet cards and phone calls from friends/family. I'm looking forward to the adventures that 34 will bring - I'm sure there will be many.
After walking around Half-Price Books for a while to burn off dinner, we finally headed to Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream. Again, there's a birthday club! Are you seeing a trend? We're serious about free stuff in this household. Not only is it nice financially, but it stretches your birthday celebrations out as we still have several coupons to use - Culvers, Red Robin, and O'Charley's. McAllister's gives you a $5 gift card (which is almost enough for a baked potato) for your birhday too, which I use to eat with sweet friend Maryann! I'm going to get fat, y'all!
Enjoying ice cream at Cold Stone!
Making picture taking a challenge for Mama!
Seriously, the best little thing ever!
No ice cream for this little one until his first birthday!

Wild & Wonderful Christmas
The WV family came in to town a few days after Christmas and we had a wonderful time exchanging gifts and catching up with them.
Now Christmas has been all cleaned up and packed away until next year. I look forward to future Christmases when Hudson will be more participatory. I have several ideas of traditions to implement to make the time for meaningful. But until then, I'll enjoy my sweet little baby who doesn't care about presents and is completely content to play with tissue paper and be loved on at Christmas time. I have a feeling we could all learn something from an attitude like that.

Seven Months
This picture is actually about 5 days late because Hudson was sick on his 7 month birthday. So sick in fact, that we took him to the Pediatric Immediate Care. He was running a 103 temp, even with tylenol in his system. Scary times. The doc originally thought he had the flu and gave me somewhat of a difficult time for not vaccinating him against the flu, but his test returned negative. So he was diagnosed with an unspecific respiratory infect aka a cold. His temp was up and down for the next 72 hours and boy was that a l-o-n-g three days. The only silver lining in his dark cloud of sickness was that he was extra snuggly. Thankfully, he's now been fever-free for almost two days and while he still has a snotty nose he is in much better spirits.
His stats for 7 months (height and weight) are from the immediate care visit. I'm glad to see he's gained a little bit since his six month appointment but he's still a bean pole. The nurse actually measured him at 28 inches but our measuring tape shows closer to 27 so that's what we're going with for now.
Hudson's continuing to teeth like crazy; drooling all the time. But those are some stubborn teeth as he still has nothing in there but gums. I ventured into full-fledge hippie mama mode this week and ordered him an amber teething necklace off ebay. Not sure if it will live up to the hype but I'm willing to try it to provide him some relief from his aching gums without resorting to medication.
Hudson's new baby trick is sitting upsupported. He can sit alone for several minutes now. He still can't get there by himself, but from what I've researched that take a little longer. So I try to help him practice with little baby exercises. He probably considers it torture as I hold a toy just out of reach to encourage him to push himself up into the sitting position independently.
Though his first few days as a seven month old were rough, with the fever, we're still so thankful that overall he's extremely healthy and happy. I can't believe he's over half-way to one year old! So grateful for my little son.
